Tuesday - hospice open gardens

The next open gardens will be on Tuesday, May 15, with four gardens opening at the Manor Barn, in Bexhill. Further details are available from the charity on 01424 205550.

Despite the wind and rain, visitors still turned out in force for the second St Michael's Open Garden event of 2007 this week.

Held in Ashburnham, guests were led through two woodland walks to enjoy bluebells and other wildlife.

The event raised more than 1,600 on the day as visitors marvelled at the beautifully kept grounds of the estate. Organiser Suzanne Leonard was delighted with the turnout despite the poor weather.
