Twins top the class to post high grades

Matthew and Jack Leitch and Stephen and Jenny Brown, were among the top performers in a strong year for the school.

The headline figure of A* to C grades, including English and maths, rose eight per cent on last year to 58 per cent.

Matthew, 16, said: “It feels great. We are quite competitive so it’s a relief to have beaten Jack. We are both good at maths and we are going on to BHASVIC to do our A-levels.”

Jenny was the top Brown twin, with six A*s and six As, but Stephen also recorded top results, with two A*s, six As and three Bs.

Emotional mum Tess, who accompanied her children to collect their results, said: “I am proud of what they have done and I am proud of them as people.

“The teachers were fantastic and the school is very caring.”

The school also celebrated an eight per cent rise in English Baccalaureate results, up to 25 per cent, while the school was also proud of its results in English and maths.

Head teacher Carolyn Dickinson said: “We have some excellent results, achieved through the hard work of both students and staff.

“Well done to all of our top students and those who performed as well as they had hoped.”

The overall top boy was Tom Reynard, with eight A*s two As and two Bs.

Rachel Thomas was the second best student, with a set of eight A*s, two As and one B.
