A CAR has crashed into the corner of Worthing Hospital this afternoon (July 30).
The incident happened shortly before 4.30pm, a spokeswoman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue said.
Two cars are understood to have collided in the hospital car park, with one then smashing through the iron railings and into the wall of the medical facility.
Three fire crews were called to the scene – two from Worthing and one from Shoreham.
A fire service spokeswoman reports had initially suggested that there were casualties trapped in the car.
“However, when we arrived there were no persons trapped,” she said. “One elderly lady was assisted from her vehicle.
“She is receiving a precautionary check at the hospital.”
Jane Farrell, chief operating officer, said: “Two people are being treated for minor injuries at Worthing A&E following a traffic collision near the hospital’s main entrance.
“Emergency services are investigating and no hospital services have been affected by the incident.”
Firefighters made the scene safe before leaving the area at 4.53pm.
