Two people rescued from lift in Littlehampton

Fire crews were called to Woodlands House, in St Winifrede’s Road, Littlehampton, at 7.04am, after a man and a woman became trapped in the residential home’s lift.

The officers helped to free the pair before leaving the site ten minutes later, at 7.14am.

A spokeswoman from the care home said an investigation had now been launched into the lift’s failure.

She said it had only been serviced in July and that the failure was due to ‘a sudden malfunction’.

The lift has been closed for safety until engineers can inspect it.
