Disappointingly, it has been decided to postpone the 60s/70s Disco in St Mary’s Community Hall tomorrow (Saturday) evening.

It has turned out that many of the people who would have liked to come are away or have other things on. Enquiries are being made to choose the best alternative date in the autumn, details of which will appear in this column as soon as possible.

A reminder that the 16th annual exhibition of recent work by the Hayesland Potters and Painters is currently running at Winchelsea Court Hall and will continue today (Friday), tomorrow and Sunday, 10am till 5pm all three days. Always an interesting show and well worth the journey across the marsh!

The 11.15am service in St Mary’s Church this Sunday is the monthly Family Service for All, following the usual pattern on the first Sunday of the month. All are welcome at this service, and for the refreshments and social get-together which follow it.

This is followed two days later by another monthly event, Messy Church, starting at 4pm on Tuesday (July 3) in the Hall. The theme this month is Feeding the Five Thousand.

Meanwhile in Rye at 2pm on Monday (July 2) at Ferry Road Health Centre a community diabetes dietician will give a talk on Healthy Eating and Nutrition for Diabetics. All are welcome at this talk, which has been arranged by the Patients Participation Group.

Since May, Vocality Udimore, a small group of people who enjoy singing together, has been meeting in the Hall on alternate Wednesday afternoons. Instead of the usual pieces sung by choirs, they have been singing songs from the shows and other modern music, including some pop, under the expert direction of Duncan Reid. After a summer break, they will be starting again on Wednesday September 19, from 2 till 3pm, when they will be delighted to welcome new members (men or women). All that’s needed is a love of singing: no auditions! The subscription for the three sessions so far has been £15, a cost which may vary in future, depending on numbers. If you would like to consider joining them, please contact Nadia Florence-Marshall (01424 882948), who will be pleased to answer any questions you may have.
