UPDATE: A27 reopened following major road closures

A FIFTEEN mile stretch along the A23 and A27 has reopened after a massive oil spillage this morning (Sunday, May 3).

The road eastbound on the A27, between A23 north of Brighton and the Southerham roundabout junction on the A26 in Lewes is now all clear.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said the roads are now up and running after traffic flow was restricted and drivers diverted into Brighton.

The roads reopened at 4.10pm this afternoon.

A Mini overturned onto its roof at Falmer in Brighton, near the Amex Stadium, earlier this morning due to the oil spillage.

A woman suffered minor injuries.
