UPDATE: Air ambulance called for elderly man

A MAN who collapsed in Montague Street on Wednesday afternoon is believed to have suffered a head injury and possible stroke.

The Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance, along with two road ambulances, were called to the scene at around 4.45pm, with initial reports suggesting the man had suffered “serious head injuries”.

The man, believed to be in his 70s, had reportedly collapsed and sustained the head injury as a result.

He was transferred by road, with a ground escort ‑ a doctor from the air ambulance crew, to the Royal Sussex hospital, in Brighton.

The hospital is classed as a major trauma centre.

The ambulance crews left at about 5.20pm, with the air ambulance departing a short while later.
