Dennis Stoner, 68, of Ringmer Road, said he was crossing South Street in Tarring on his mobility scooter, when a refuse lorry collided with him on the road.

Mr Stoner said: “I couldn’t believe it at first. My ankle was hurt and my neck was injured. I was told it was just the shock but we will see.

“I must say there were people there that were absolutely brilliant, and my actual scooter was taken away last week, so this one was on loan.

“At the moment I don’t feel like going out and about but I will see in the morning how I am and I will go from there.”
