UPDATE: Pedestrian dies following collision

Sussex Police have confirmed that a pedestrian has died following a collision with a motorcycle in Worthing Road, East Preston.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: “The collision happened just after 4.30pm on Wednesday (December 14).

“The motorcyclist was subsequently involved in a collision with a car. Police, ambulance and fire services attended the scene and the road was closed into the evening for rescue, recovery and investigation work to take place.

“The pedestrian, an elderly local man, sadly died at the scene.

“Early indications are that the motorcyclist suffered serious injuries, but they are not thought to be life-threatening at this time.

“Any witnesses are asked to email [email protected] or call 101 quoting Operation Tails.”

A spokesperson for South East Coast Ambulance Service said that four cars, three ambulances and an air ambulance attended the scene.

They confirmed that the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, and that the motorcyclist had serious injuries, including a leg injury, and was taken to hospital as a priority.
