UPDATE: Pedestrian hit on A27 at Chichester '˜walking in road'

Police have released more information after a man was hit by a lorry on the A27 near Chichester.

The 37-year-old local man was taken to Southampton Hospital after he was hit by a lorry between the Whyke and Stockbridge roundabouts.

Police were called after reports of a man walking in the road at about 4pm on Thursday, October 3 - he was hit shortly afterwards.

He suffered injures and is in a serious but not life-threatening condition.

Both carriageways of the A27 were closed, causing tailbacks throughout the city at rush hour.

PC Robert Blair appealed to any witnesses to the accident.

“We were alerted to a man walking in the road and officers were quickly dispatched moments before the collision,” he said.

“We would like any witnesses who saw the man before the collision to contact police on 101 or email [email protected]. quoting 1033 3/10.”
