UPDATE: Police search train for suspect after teen robbed outside college

Police stopped a train to search for a suspect after a teenager was pushed to the ground and robbed this afternoon (Monday February 29).

Officers were called to Richmond Road, Horsham, at around 4.30pm after a 17-year-old girl was attacked outside The College of Richard Collyer.

Police said the girl’s handbag was stolen by a suspect, believed to be a man, who made off towards Horsham station.

Officers stopped a train at round 4.40pm to search for the man. He was not located and enquires continue.

On Twitter Shane Hudson said: “On way to London, stuck in Horsham. Police all over train looking for a suspect.”

All lines travelling through Horsham were blocked due to the incident.

Southern Rail said they have now been re-opened.
