Southern Water is drilling to fix a leak after a sinkhole appeared in one of Worthing town centre’s main streets this afternoon.
Police closed part of High Street, near Chatsworth Road, after the hole was discovered around 2.30pm.
The street forms part of the Pulse bus route, which stretches from Lancing to Durrington.
The road is now re-open on one side, but Southern Water has brought workers in to fix the leak.
A spokesman for Southern Water said: “We’ve identified a small leak on a pipe in Worthing High Street. This is likely to be connected to the hole that has appeared. There is an inspector on site and we’ll work as quickly as possible to fix this and re-open the road. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.”
