Update: Thick smoke in Goring caused by shed arson

A STORAGE shed was “severely damaged” in a deliberate fire in Goring.

Firefighters were called to Barrington Road today (Tuesday, April 2) at 12.39pm after receiving multiple reports of thick black smoke coming from the Goring area.

Upon arrival, they found a metal storage shed on fire with flames spreading to hedgerows in the surrounding area.

Two fire engines attended the blaze, which was put out by firefighters using breathing apparatuses and hose reels.

The crews had extinguished the fire by 1.07pm.

A spokeswoman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze had been started deliberately.
