UPDATE: Van driver in '˜stable' condition after A24 crash

The van driver airlifted to hospital after a serious crash on the A24 this morning (Friday January 15) is in a '˜stable' condition.

Police have launched an appeal for witnesses to the collision between the van and a bus, which happened near the Washington roundabout at about 7.25am.

The driver of the van, a 35-year-old man from Worthing, was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries but remains in a stable condition.

Police said the bus had a number of passengers on board with two treated at the scene for minor injuries. The bus driver was not injured.

The northbound carriageway was closed for recovery work and reopened at around 11.10am.

PC Genna White said: “We would like to hear from anyone who saw what happened, and also from any of the bus passengers that hadn’t spoken to police before leaving the site.
