UPDATE: Worthing pizza shop closed up to two weeks
A Worthing pizza shop could be closed for up to two weeks following an incident yesterday where a car collided with the side of the shop.
Police said emergency services were called to Broadwater Street West in Broadwater around 2.15pm, after a silver car was reported to have left the road and mounted the pavement, before colliding with the corner of the Pizzarelli takeaway, next to The Broadwater pub.
A statement released on the Pizzarelli Worthing Facebook page said: “Due to the damage caused the building is not safe to be used at the moment and we are unsure as to how long it will take to make safe, however we expect it to be anywhere between 48 hours and two weeks.
“We will keep you all updated on progress for when we will reopen and are thankful no one looks seriously hurt. We are so sorry but you will all have to tolerate fast food pizza or go without but we will make it up to you when we get going again.”
Police said the man driving the car, believed to be in his 80s, was not injured, nor was anyone else.
