The collision was between a motorcyclist and pedestrian on the A27, at 9.40am in the A27 Upper Brighton Road, Worthing, at the junction with Cissbury Road.

Witness, Patrick Jenkins, 64, of Cissbury Road said a helicopter had landed on the rotary ground and police had attended the scene.

A spokesperson for West Sussex Ambulance said a man, approximately aged 18, was knocked over by the motorbike and suffered injuries including a head injury and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

The man was reported to be unconscious after the collision but his injuries were not said to be life-threatening.

Sussex Police said an air ambulance attended the scene but the man was taken to the hospital by road ambulance and his condition was initially assessed as serious but not life-threatening.

The motorcyclist was reported to be uninjured.

The road was closed while the man was attended to and the scene examined, but was open again after 11am.
