UPDATED: Distracted by dog before two-car crash in Hastings

A driver was distracted by a dog before a crash involving two cars in Hastings earlier this afternoon (Monday, June 13), according to police.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, Sussex Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) were called to reports of a crash on Elphinstone Road at around 12.30pm.

A woman driving a Toyota Prius is reported to have been distracted by a dog in the car prior to the crash with an oncoming Ford Focus, a police spokesman said.

A driver and two children were checked out by the two SECAmb crews and treated on scene, a SECAmb spokesman said, but it is unclear which car they were in.

The road was closed temporarily while the vehicles were recovered and the scene was made safe by firefighters.
