Updated: East Hill fire '˜was an accident'

A fire which broke out on East Hill in Hastings this afternoon (Thursday, March 31) started accidentally, East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service has said.

Firefighters from The Ridge Fire Station were called to the scene at around 3pm following reports of a fire in the open.

Crews spent time damping down bushes, which are believed to have caught alight accidentally.

Firefighters left the scene just after 3.40pm.
