VIDEO: Concerns about traffic chaos on A27 in Worthing

CONCERNED residents have spoken out about the traffic chaos at a notorious junction on the A27.

The traffic lights at Lyons Farm, Worthing, are busier than ever since two new retail units opened nearby in 2007, greatly increasing the number of vehicles using the junction.

Customers leaving Argos and Pets at Home are often forced to sit on road hatchings in the middle of the crossroads while they wait for a chance to cross the stream of oncoming traffic, as seen on our video.

A spokesman for the Highways Agency said: "We are very aware of the traffic flow issues on the busy A27 through Worthing, and this has informed our advice to the planning authority.

"We are committed to investing in improved services and are working closely with our partners to identify measures that will help both in the short and longer term.

"We will consult fully on any identified options for improvement in due course."
