An investigation is underway after a body was found on Shoreham beach by dog walkers this morning.
Emergency services, including senior police officers and the coastguard, were among those on the scene near The Burrells shortly after 8am.
A spokesman for Sussex Police confirmed the body of a man was found and said the death was being treated as ‘unexplained’.
An investigation is now underway.
“At 8.10am on Friday (4 December) the body of a man was found by dog walkers at the water’s edge on Shoreham beach near The Burrells,” added a spokesman.
“The death is currently being treated as unexplained and the circumstances are being investigated.”
A spokesman for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said: “The coastguard was called to the scene at 9.10am, by East Sussex Police, to assist with the recovery of a body.”
