VIDEO: Mad Hatter’s Tea Parlour opens

Worthing mayor Bob Smytherman met Alice and the Mad Hatter when he opened the Mad Hatter’s Tea Parlour, in Goring Road, at midday today.

A raffle and collection were made for the mayor’s charities, Worthing Mind, Guild Care and the Worthing branch of the Alzheimer’s Society.

Earlier today, Worthing Cash Mob, dressed in ‘mad hats’ launched its Share the Warmth scheme at the café.

The idea of the scheme, organised by Colm Sweet and Simon Wells, is to share the warmth by café customers leaving the cost of a hot drink, so it can be then given to a homeless person.

People can pay 50p to put a marble in a jar, and three marbles gives a homeless person a free hit drink.

Members of Worthing Cash Mob then toured Wallace Parade, on their monthly mission to spend £5 at an independent store, including Cardus, Pixies and Bo-K
