The club gathered in Montague Place, Worthing, to sing some carols and raise money for local charities as the Worthing Rotary tree of Goodwill was officially opened.

President of Worthing Rotary Club Sally Novak said: “Today is the official opening of the Christmas tree and we are here to have a bit of a sing-song.

“We are raising money for local charities including the Salvation Army who provide parcels for people in the local area.

“We are very pleased with the Christmas tree this year as it is a great way to open the new town centre.

“I would like to say a massive thank you to all our sponsors including Leaders and Town Centre Initiative. They have been very good to us.”

The Rotary Club was also joined by Worthing mayor Sean McDonald and town crier Bob Smytherman at the official opening.

Councillor McDonald said: “Thank you everybody for coming today and these lovely people who are raising money for our local charities.

“All the money goes to our local charities which is fantastic because we need to do a lot for them. I am absolutely delighted the club is here today, this is their 60th year I am told.

“Thank you to the sponsors as well. Thank you to Leaders and Town Centre Initiative for the contributions.”
