He has moved to Worthing with his wife and eight-year-old daughter for a year to sample the English way of life and teach children at schools and clubs in the town how to speak French.

"I'm having such a good time over here," said Jean.

"The children at the clubs are fantastic to teach because they are all so interested in learning French, it makes my job so much easier.

"In terms of teaching them, I am able to use the same methods as I use in my school at home when teaching kids to speak English, it just goes to show that children are the same wherever you go."

Before he moved over from France, Jean, 58, made contact with Tim Nicholls, who runs Le Club Francais (LCF) after-school clubs in Worthing, Goring and Littlehampton.

The clubs teach children aged three to 11 to speak French and Spanish through singing, drama and craft.
