CROWDS of people stopped to watch skating star Chris Fountain take to the ice for the official opening of Worthing’s real ice-rink today (Saturday, February 5).
The former Dancing on Ice runner-up and Hollyoaks star showed off his impressive skating moves before the rink was opened to the public.
Other skaters at the opening included two junior British champions, Richard Sharp and Sophie Jones, and Holiday on Ice star Laura Bird, who is from Brighton.
The ice-rink will be open in Steyne Gardens until March 6, offering people a chance to take to the ice seven days a week.
This is the third year the ice-rink has come to Worthing, thanks to the Town Centre Initiative and town centre manager Sharon Clarke.
Mrs Clarke said: “I am delighted that we have been able to bring the ice-rink back to Worthing for its third year.
“It’s great winter activity when there isn’t much going on elsewhere because of the weather and it’s great for Worthing.”
To book tickets online visit www.worthingicerink.co.uk (see external link to the top right of this story) or call 01903 222 934 between 9am and 5pm on Monday to Friday, and Saturday between 10am to 4pm.
Each skating session lasts for one hour but this includes time to put on and remove skates so actual time on the ice is around 45 minutes.
