VIDEO: Worthing's ice rink is an instant hit '“ and Herald has tickets to be won

PEOPLE from Worthing and beyond have been having an ice-tastic time on the ice rink in Steyne Gardens.

Worthing's first ever real ice rink was officially opened on Saturday (January 31) and was an instant hit with people of all ages - so much so that there are calls for a permanent rink to be installed in the town.

Dozens of people packed onto the ice on Saturday, from skating experts from the Guildford Ice Figure-Skating Club to Worthing's mayor who only just managed to stay on her feet.

Local MPs Peter Bottomley and Tim Loughton also donned their ice-skates as did some clowns from Zippo's Circus crew.

Worthing council leader Keith Mercer also joined in the fun and admitted to being "terrified" on the ice.

Sharon Clarke, town centre manager, said: "It has been fab and the feedback has been phenomenal with many people calling for it to be a permanent fixture, which is something we would definitely support.

"The rink has created a real buzz and has got everyone smiling."
