The Friends of Broadwater and Worthing Cemetery group is organising a clean-up event on Saturday, when people should meet at the cemetery main entrance in South Farm Road, Worthing, at 10am, to finish at 1pm.

Tasks range from sweeping paths, ivy removal from headstones and memorials, bramble removal to light pruning of tree branches.

There is something for everybody and everyone is welcome, whatever their age, as they can do tasks based on their abilities.

Voluntary helpers are encouraged to wear suitable clothing and gardening gloves and although the Friends have a supply of gardening tools, it would be appreciated if visitors could bring with them light equipment such as secateurs, shears, pruners, brooms and anything else they consider might be useful.

Visitors should be competent in the operation of their equipment and beware of health and safety implications, such as uneven ground, grass covered grave surrounds and holes in the ground.

There will be a refreshment break.

The Friends of Broadwater and Worthing Cemetery are a group of volunteers who work to preserve and promote the heritage of the cemetery and new members are always welcomed.
