Wartime sing-song links children with their grandparents

A WARTIME sing-song and tea party marked an exciting topic for schoolchildren in Maybridge.

Children in year three at Field Place First School in Nelson Road had spent time discovering what life was like as a child during World War II.

And on Thursday, the children invited their grandparents and other friends who had lived during the war to a special tea party and wartime sing-song.

They even baked the cakes using a wartime recipe.

Jane Major, the year three leader, said: "It was an exciting opportunity for the children to talk to people first hand about their experiences. It also gave grandparents the chance to come into school and look at the children's work."
