We want to hear your Coronation memories!

IT was hailed as the "dawn of the new Elizabethan age." Bexhill joined the rest of the nation in going awash in red, white and blue and staging street-parties.

It was the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II - and it was 50 years ago, come next month.

Now, as then (left), the Observer will be marking the occasion. But first we need your memories of the big day.

Were you among the hundreds of thousands who stood in London's rain with a cardboard periscope hoping for a glimpse of the Gold Coach and its occupants?

Were you present at one of the street parties?

If you have a particularly vivid memory of the Coronation, the Observer would like to hear from you and see the photographs from the family archive.

Readers are invited to write to the Observer at 18 Sackville Road, e-mail on [email protected] or ring our newsdesk on 01424 730555.
