Have we seen the best of the summer in Sussex?

After a dismal June, this month has proved much warmer with far less rain, but what can we expect for the rest of the summer across Sussex?

The Met Office has bad news for the end of the month.

After seeing recent temperatures push into the 30s, the rest of the week and weekend will see a maximum of just 20/21degC, dropping a degree or two even lower in coastal areas.

And Wednesday and Thursday could see some showers make their way across the county.

As far the rest of the summer is concerned, the Met Office is hedging its bets.

Looking at the start of August (a week today) the current forecast is: “At the start of the week, it may turn a little windier with cloud and rain pushing into western parts. The remainder of the period is likely to stay rather changeable, with a mixture of brighter but showery spells interspersed with cloudier conditions with bands of rain pushing through.”

However, temperatures could be occasionally warm or very warm and humid in the south-east.”

And the even longer forecast is less sure for the rest of August.

“The south and south-east should see more of the drier and settled conditions. There is a chance that a more prolonged settled and warm spell may develop for a time around mid-August, though confidence is currently low. Temperatures will probably average out around normal, with some warmer and cooler days likely.”
