A yellow warning has been put in place for areas in the north of the county – including Billingshurst, Haywards Heath, Crawley and Crowborough.

The Met Office said a band of heavy snow may bring disruption as it moves eastwards on Saturday.

A spokesman said the day would be ‘cloudy and windy with rain, sleet and snow moving eastwards’.

“Several centimetres of snow are possible in places, but is likely to turn increasingly to rain before clearing east later,” said the spokesman.

Delays to railway services are possible, as are power cuts.

The warning is in place from 3am tomorrow to 8pm.

Sunday and Monday will be largely dry with bright or sunny spells.
