West Sussex county councillor resigns

A LONG-serving Liberal Democrat member of West Sussex County Council has resigned from the party.

Cllr Brian Hall, a county councillor for more than 18 years, who represents Haywards Heath Town, says he will sit as an Independent in the short term while he considers his options.

Cllr Hall is the third county councillor to quit the Lib Dems since the last county council elections.

Cllr James Doyle (Worthing Pier) is now sitting as an Independent, while Cllr Heidi Brunsdon (Imberdown) joined the Conservatives.

The political make-up of the county council is now 49 Conservatives, 18 Liberal Democrats, two Labour, and two Independents.
