West Sussex fire rescue merger is ‘best outcome’
A FULL merger between West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, and East Sussex Fire Authority, would be the best outcome for West Sussex council tax payers.
This conclusion has been reached by a West Sussex County Council task force set up to consider the comparative advantages of a full merger or closer collaboration between the two services. The task force was recommending consideration of the merger option at a meeting of the county council’s community services select committee, subject to the outcome of public consultations, as well as a decision on the future funding arrangements and agreement from the government.
