The PatienTrack system, allows nursing staff to enter a patient’s vital signs into a small, hand-held device.

Those signs can then be monitored while they are on the move, and alerts sent straight to staff if there are any changes.

Eartham ward, in Worthing, was the first to try out the system last month, and it will be brought in at St Richard’s within six months.

The Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust is only the second hospital trust in England to use the PatienTrack system.
