WI Round-up

Pagham Harbour WI held its annual meeting on October 28.

WI adviser June Moran led the meeting, guiding members through the process of electing and re-electing committee members.

Votes of thanks were given to popular retiring president, Margaret Becket, one of the founder members of the group and an inspirational force throughout her three years in office.

Margaret personally thanked and gave a gift to all members who had helped to make the branch a success.

A colourful, framed collage of an oyster catcher, the Pagham WI logo, made by Paddy Jones and signed by all members, was presented to Margaret, together with a garden plant.

An election was held for committee members and Kay Vickers was elected president.

A vote of thanks was given to treasurer Anne Miller for her competent presentation of finances.

Secretary Gill Dart reported on club activities including an active craft group, games group and rambling.

A monthly luncheon club has been started, group meetings were held with neighbouring WIs. The competition 'The Story of my life in 100 words' interested and amused the audience.

June Moran concluded the meeting, congratulating Pagham WI on its success over three years and stressed the educational aspects of the WI and involvement with topical interests.

A vote of thanks was given to Mrs Moran together with a decorative houseplant.
