CHURCH MARKET: Tomorrow, August 6, all are welcome to the Church Market in St Thomas' Church, held on the first Saturday in the month. '¨Last month's Church Market raised £206.50 and all proceeds are in aid of church funds. The market begins at the usual time of 10.30am till 12 noon and there will be homemade and home-grown produce for sale as well as a good range of books on offer. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be served along with somewhere to sit and friendly company.

CHURCH EVENTS: On Saturday August 6 morning worship in St Thomas’ Church will be as usual at 9.15am. 
In the afternoon at 2pm the wedding of Paul and Kirsty will take place. For Sunday August 7 the day begins with the 8am Holy Communion followed by a Sung Eucharist at 11am and then at 1pm the baptism of Avannah. 
All services are scheduled to be led by the Rector Robin Whitehead. The Bishop of Chichester Dr Martin Warner has issued a statement to the churches in the diocese on the recent atrocity in France. He referred to churches standing together to support those affected by the terrorist attack on the church in Normandy and the fatal killing of the priest Jacques Hamel. The Bishop explained that all churches had a role in supporting each other over the persecution of Christians throughout the world, and there are at least 50 countries where this occurs. It was also requested that church members continue proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ which brings peace and goodwill to all who will accept Him as Lord and Saviour in these troubled times.

WINCHELSEA CRICKET: The local cricket season continues throughout August and September and Winchelsea Cricket Club, renowned for its friendly team spirit, enjoys playing against local towns and villages They will be at home to Acorns XI on August 14, to Crowhurst on August 21 and to R. Merricks XI on September 4. In addition, WCC will play away to Northiam on August 7 and Parkhurst on August 28. All matches are played on Sundays at 2.30pm and home matches are held on the Cricket Field adjacent to the New Hall. 
If you are interested in getting involved new players are always welcome and you are invited to introduce yourself to the captain on match day.

SUMMER TEAS: The New Hall will be serving Summer Afternoon Teas throughout August to raise funds for the maintenance and improvement of the building. All are invited to come along and have a tea and chat between 2.30 and 4.30pm on Tuesday 2, Monday 8, Tuesday 9, Monday 15, Tuesday 16 and Tuesday 23 August. Nearer the time do check the noticeboards as each afternoon tea will have a special theme. Also thank you to everyone who completed the survey a few months ago on an overall plan for the short and long term future of the hall. 
One of the main requests was for better access for people with disabilities. So far grab rails have been installed and there is the likelihood of a new entrance door suitable for wheelchair users. 
The New Hall committee is also looking for volunteers to help with fundraising, setting up for events or assisting the committee and the contact number is 01797 227910 if you would like to be involved.

CHAPEL DOWN WINERY: Winchelsea Garden Society has arranged a visit to Chapel Down Vinery at Smallhythe for members and friends. The date for this event is Thursday August 25 and the plan is to meet there at 2pm, using your own transport. Refreshments will be on sale afterwards in the Swan Kitchen. For the guided tour the cost is £7 a head and the minimum number is 15 people. If you want to come along please let Howard Norton (secretary) know as soon as possible, by Sunday August 14 at the latest. Lifts will be arranged nearer the time and if you need one or can offer one do tell Howard.

BUCKINGHAM PALACE: The Rye, Winchelsea and District Association of the National Trust has arranged a visit to Buckingham Palace on Wednesday September 14. Included in the Palace visit is this year’s exhibition which describes the story of the Queen’s reign through the medium of fashion. 
The cost is £38 for both the visit and coach and there is a total of 50 places of which many have already been booked.

TABLE SALE: Tomorrow, Saturday August 6, the Table Sale takes place in the Community Hall at 11am. 
To hire a table please contact 01797 224820. 
For those coming to look around and buy entrance cost is 50p which includes tea and biscuit. 
There will be a tombola with great prizes and all proceeds will go towards the WBCA.
CASH BINGO: On Wednesday August 10 at 7pm for 7.15pm there will be an evening of Cash Bingo and families and friends are welcome to come.
