The Wild West production by the Winchelsea Singers in the New Hall is this weekend with an afternoon performance at 2 pm today (Friday) and tomorrow at 7 pm. Tickets are on sale at the Post Office at £10 with refreshments for Friday and £16 with a 2 course supper for Saturday evening. Fancy dress is optional.

St Thomas’s Church will be having its monthly Church Market tomorrow as usual from 10.30 am to 12 noon. This is always a time to get together over coffee, tea, biscuits and hear Iain Kerr’s light piano music in the background. You may also want to buy some of the home-grown, home-made produce as well as plants, hardback books and all proceeds will be gratefully received for church funds. The January Market raised £317 and thank you for your support.

The Sunday services on 3rd February at St Thomas’s Church begin with the 8 am Holy Communion with Revd Dick Dengate. At 10.30 am the Archdeacon Philip Jones will be leading the Eucharist morning worship and the church welcomes a good turn out, so do your best to be part of it.

The Mobile Library will be calling at Castle Street on Wednesday 6th February as from 1.40 to 2.10 pm for your reading needs.

This year’s Lent Group of 5 weeks will be starting on Wednesday 20th February from 7 to 8.30 pm in the Rectory and the first session is: The God who hears our cry. Please contact Michael McFadyean (01797 226422) if you are interested in coming along and to order a course booklet.

The church Electoral Roll applies to voting on matters relating to the PCC (Parish Church Council) and the Deanery Synod. This year a new Roll is being produced and all parishioners who wish to be on this, whether or not you are on the current Roll, should complete a form which can be found at the back of the church or from the Electoral Roll Officer, Tony Wesson. As a resident/member of the local community it is important to be included on the forthcoming Electoral Roll.

Sunday 2nd February is World Wetlands Day (WWD) and the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve has organised an observation of the many wetland birds in the area. A high tide at dusk should give views of these birds which include Little Egrets and Golden Plover. Please meet at 3 pm at Rye Harbour car park. Each year since 1997 the Ramsar Secretariat in Switzerland has provided resources to assist conservation groups around the world. The idea is to raise public awareness of the cultural importance, wise use and value of wetlands in all countries.

On the second Sunday before Lent, 3rd February St Richard’s Church will be holding its monthly Evening Prayer beginning at 3 pm. The service will be led by Michael Phillips.

The Mobile Library will be stationed on Sea Road this Wednesday 6th February from the usual time of 11.55 am to 12.30 pm.

Something Else the rock n roll trio will be playing their own style of the classic country hits. You are invited to come along, enjoy the music and tap your feet to those rocking tunes that you know well or will hear for the first time. This musical event takes place on Saturday 9th February at 7.30 till 10.30 pm in the Community Hall. Entry is by ticket only (tel: WBCA on 01797 224820) and the cost is £10 which includes a fish & chip supper and bring your own drink and nibbles.
