THE winner of the first Lancing Community Awards has been praised for her commitment to helping young people in the area.
Marion Peskett, founder of Lancing youth group Electric Storm Youth, was the winner of the awards, set up by the parish council last year after Churchill ward councillor James Butcher suggested the idea to recognise the hard work of Lancing residents.
The runner up was Andrew Eggington, who was described as “tireless in his commitment to keep the council in check”.
Mr Butcher, who made history last year when he came Lancing’s youngest councillor at 19, described the pair as “deserving winners”.
He said: “Marion Peskett was chosen for her work with ESY.
“She has shown a true and relentless commitment to bettering the lives of our local young people and we are extremely proud to be able to show her our appreciation. “Andrew Eggington is tireless in his commitment to keeping the council in check.
“He regularly updates councillors of community business, he submits ideas to us about how we can better provide services and he notably secured a significant amount of money for the council.”
