Woman, 28, dies after being hit by train at Fishersgate

British Transport Police has confirmed a woman died after being struck by a train near Fishersgate station.

The incident happened on Friday (September 11).

Police have not yet identified the woman but said her death was not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesman for British Transport Police (BTP) said: “We were called to the line close to Fishersgate station at 9pm on Friday, September 11, following reports of a person being struck by a train.

“Colleagues from Sussex Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended and a 28-year-old woman from Durrington, Worthing, was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The woman’s deathis not being treated as suspicious, and her family have been informed.

“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
