Woman dies after road sweeper truck crash

A woman who was left in a serious condition after a crash last month has died, police have said.

The 77-year-old, from Billingshurst, was seriously injured after a Peugeot car and a DAF road sweeper truck collided near Shipley on Wednesday, November 25.

The woman, who was the front seat passenger in the Peugeot, died at St George’s Hospital, Tooting, London, on Thursday December 17, police said.

The coroner has been informed.

Emergency services were called to the crash at the junction of Shipley Road and the A272 between Cowfold and Coolham shortly before 5pm.

The driver of the car, a 78-year-old man from Billingshurst, was also injured and remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

The driver of the sweeper truck, a 34-year-old man from Worthing, was unhurt.
