A WOMAN was rescued from her first floor flat in Durrington after a fire broke out in her kitchen.

Worthing firefighters were called to the flat in Shelby Road just after 6pm and were there for 20 minutes.

Luckily the fire was out on arrival but the crew had to use special ventilation equipment as the property was smoke-logged.

The woman was checked by paramedics but did not need to go to hospital.
