Woman who died in A285 three vehicle collision is named

She was the second person to die this year on the blackspot stretch of road which links Petworth and Chichester.
In February a man in his late 20s died in a single car crash between the Droke Lane and Selhurst Park Road junctions with the A285 close to the scene of last Thursday’s crash.

Hide AdA spokesman for the West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said three crews were called to the scene of the collision on Thursday between Folly Lane and Droke Lane shortly before 3pm.
Two people, who were trapped in their cars, were rescued by firefighters using specialist cutting equipment.

Two more victims of the collision were released from their cars before the emergency services arrived.
The heavy rescue tender and a fire engine from Chichester were called to the scene along with firefighters from Petworth.

Hide AdThe A285 was closed in both directions for some four hours while police officers carried out an investigation into the collision.
The 12-mile section of the A285 between Chichester and Petworth was named Britain’s ‘persistently highest risk road’ in a Road Safety Foundation survey at the end of 2014.
