The scheme forms part of a two-year, phased development of 173 homes being built by Persimmon Homes.

Raglan Housing is working in partnership with Arun District Council, Persimmon Homes and the Homes and Communities Agency to deliver the £8.7 million scheme, which will offer a mix of energy-efficient properties, 45 for affordable rent and 24 for shared ownership.

Councillor Ricky Bower, Arun District Council cabinet member for planning and infrastructure, said: “

“We have all worked together on this project for almost six years now, so it is very heartening to see the affordable housing construction commence. This affordable housing scheme will make a very real difference to many families in Arun, offering them the chance to enjoy high quality, low-cost housing, hopefully as early as spring 2015.”

Richard Stevenson, Raglan’s business development director, added: “Property prices in the Yapton area are among the highest in the country. There is a desperate need for affordable homes, but it has to be the right type of high-quality housing.”
