Worthing bus pass protester continues fight

PETITIONING pensioner Hilda Hammond is continuing her campaign to get the hours of use for free bus passes in Worthing extended.

Miss Hammond started her campaign to get the concessionary pass start time made 9am, rather than 9.30am as it is as present, last summer.

She even took her quest to a full meeting of Worthing Borough Council, but was later told it was not possible due to a lack of funding.

Despite this, Miss Hammond, 87, has written to the council asking the issue be looked into again when the new financial year starts in April.

Miss Hammond, of Downview Road, decided to lobby the council after finding that she was always late for her job as a volunteer at a school.

She uses her free pass to get to Heene First School in Norfolk Street, Worthing, three times a week but is often late as she is not allowed to get on the bus before 9.30am.

What do you think?

Do you think the free bus passes for the elderly in Worthing should start at 9am or 9.30am?
