Edward Crouch, a Marine Ward councillor for Worthing Borough Council, is hosting the big beach clean on Saturday, October 20, south of Grand Avenue.

Mr Crouch, executive member for digital and environmental services, said: “Come and help put the beach to bed for the winter. Bring your friends and family and happen make a difference to our shared environment.

“These clean-up initiatives really demonstrate the strong community support for preserving and enhancing our shared environment.

“I hope everyone who attends has a great time and can be reassured that, by working together, our small individual contributions will make a massive difference.”

The clean comes as environmental groups in Worthing attempt to fight the impact of plastic on the town’s beaches.

Refill Worthing recently launched a scheme where businesses offer free water refills in order to cut down on plastic bottle packaging.
