Worthing High acting head given permanent role

Mrs Dickinson, who has been in the role since September, reportedly beat around 18 other candidates to the appointment.

Her first task will now be to steer the school out of special measures, which was imposed by OFSTED at the beginning of the year.

Mrs Dickinson said: “It is excellent news. I am excited and really pleased to be appointed.

“I am confident we will be able to get out of special measures soon as there is a drive from staff and students to do so and they are a credit to themselves.”

Aside from removing the school’s special measures, Mrs Dickinson has a clear vision for taking the school forward.

She said: “I want to build upon the quality of teaching and provide the skills and attributes so students can go out into the complex world.”

Mrs Dickinson was a late entrant into teaching, having studied for her teaching qualification in 2000.

Her first role was at Ringmer Community College, in Ringmer, and was a deputy head in Burgess Hill, before moving to Worthing High in 2008.
