Worthing High School out of Special Measures

Head teacher Carolyn Dickinson said: “I am delighted to inform our parents and the local community that, following yesterday’s Monitoring Visit by Ofsted, Worthing High School is no longer in Special Measures.

“The removal of Special Measures in less than 12 months is a great achievement and is due to the hard work and commitment of Worthing High staff, students, parents and carers.

“Ofsted is now conducting a Section 5 full inspection today (Thursday January 15) and I will communicate the results of the inspection, along with the full report as soon as it is formally published to all parents and carers.”

MP Tim Loughton said: “I am very pleased to hear that Worthing High School has been taken out of special measures and is clearly on a strong and speedy road to recovery.

“Carolyn Dickinson and her team have done an excellent job to bring this about in a relatively short period of time and I am sure this will give great reassurance to parents and students who have shown great patience and understanding as the management team at the school, helped by a number of impressive new members of staff, have faced up to the challenges.

“With academy status now well entrenched in the school’s ethos I think we can look forward to further substantial progress from this important school in our town.”
