Worthing homeowners urged to save on water use

THE Energy Savings Trust has urged Worthing residents to follow advice, based on results from a recent water study, to save money on their water bills.

The Trust’s findings claim that by following three ‘simple steps’ the average household in Worthing could save £22 on their annual bill, with households on a meter saving an additional £13 per year.

The report said this could be done by installing an eco-shower head to a mixer or power shower, which 49 per cent of Worthing homes were eligible to do; washing clothes at 30 degrees instead of 50-60 degrees could save 40 per cent of the energy used per wash; and by filling a kettle with the amount of water that was needed, as excess filling of kettles costs Britons a combined £368 million each year.

Andrew Tucker, water strategy manager at the Energy Savings Trust, said: “It’s all too easy to turn on the tap and not think of the consequences but that doesn’t mean householders in Worthing are powerless to control their water use.”
