Worthing is named one of the most desirable

A SEAFRONT location, quality schools and an increased number of ‘trendy’ bars have all contributed to Worthing’s status as one of the most desirable places to live in England, according to some of the town’s estate agents.

The housing market is thriving in Worthing and this is reflected in the town’s house prices.

A report carried out by economist Andrew Carter for The Guardian found that the town’s average house price costs 8.6 times the average salary in Worthing, making it the tenth most ‘unaffordable’ place to live in the country.

Pat Barton, a director of Jacobs Steel, said: “Worthing has definitely increased its popularity. I’m Worthing born and bred, and I know the town well. It’s always had this humorous reputation of being God’s waiting room.

“We have certainly got a huge influx of people coming from Brighton and Hove because of the prices, good transport links and good schools.”
