Police have placed a Confiscation Order of £25,000 from a Worthing man convicted of drug-related offences.

Brian Hearn, 25, an electrician of Eldon Road, was found guilty at Chichester Crown Court on August 11 of six offences – possession of cannabis, possession of cannabis with intent to supply, two counts of possession of a Class C drug, possession of a Taser and possession of pepper spray, all relating to searches of his car and property on March 31 and September 19, 2014..

He was sentenced at the same court on September 15 to 16 weeks’ prison, suspended for 12 months, and ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work.

Following his sentencing, a proceeds of crime application was heard on January 8, at which the court ruled that £25,000 be paid by Hearn in relation to the offencess.

Investigating officer Polly Williams said: “This investigation has culminated in a successful prosecution following a significant amount of effort and team work, and it is right the sentence reflects this.

“The confiscation order of £25,000 should be a significant deterrent to anyone considering crime as a lifestyle choice.”
