Worthing MPs disagree over planned salary rise to £74k
WORTHING MPs are at odds over plans to introduce a nine per cent pay rise to take their salary to £74,000.
The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority, the common’s expenses watchdog, says that MPs’ pay should increase by more than £6,500 after the next election in 2015, following claims that political salaries fall behind those of other professions. But Tim Loughton and Sir Peter Bottomley have differing views regarding how appropriate the plans are in the current economic climate.
